Blue Whale Comedy Night: Luke Mones
Get ready to laugh at Blue Whale Comedy Night, presented by Guthrie Green, featuring Luke Mones on Saturday, November 1.
Luke Mones is a comedian, actor, and writer. He was selected by Netflix for their Introducing… stand-up showcase at their inaugural comedy festival and was named an Up Next comedian by Comedy Central. Luke wrote and starred in the Comedy Central digital series Genies. Luke’s stand-up has also been seen on Comedy Central: Stand-Up Featuring and Don’t Tell Comedy. Luke is a regular at The Comedy Cellar in New York City. Luke hosts the Luke Mones Explained podcast, and his debut comedy album, Happening in My Head, is available everywhere.

klark sound & Tony Aparo
Join us for an evening with klark sound and Tony Aparo of the Atlanta folk-rock band Improvement Movement as they dig through their catalog of both solo and co-written material in a loose songwriters’ round. The duo has been touring the United States with Improvement Movement for most of 2025 and is rounding out the year with a more laid-back set, sharing songs and stories from the road as well as material from each of their solo careers.

Guitarist, composer, and educator Stephane Wrembel is one of the most highly regarded guitarists in the world, specializing in the style of legendary composer/guitarist Django Reinhardt. Since 2003, he has had a remarkable career touring the world while releasing over 20 albums. His original compositions have been featured in the films Midnight in Paris (“Bistro Fada”) and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (“Big Brother”). He has opened or performed with Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, The Roots John Scofield, Larry Keel, Stochelo Rosenberg, Sam Bush, and more. His most recent release is Triptych: Phase I, II, and III—a 3-part recording series—featuring special guest pianist, Jean-Michel Pilc.

Jackie Myers Trio
Kansas City jazz pianist, vocalist, and composer Jackie Myers brings her soulful touch and blues-infused vocals to the LowDown stage on Saturday, December 6. A seasoned performer with seven albums to her name and residencies at some of KC’s most notable venues, Myers blends jazz standards, inventive originals, and groove-forward keyboard work reminiscent of Ahmad Jamal and Les McCann. With the tight rhythm section of Less and Leifer, the Jackie Myers Trio delivers a vibrant mix of straight-ahead jazz, soul-jazz, and blues, creating an experience both fresh and rooted in tradition. The trio includes Jackie Myers vocals, bassist Seth Less, and drummer Matt Leifer.

ABOUT JACKIE MYERS
Jackie Myers is a jazz pianist, composer, and singer. She is a transplant from Austin, Texas, where she performed in the indie touring circuit for almost a decade. She has been playing in Kansas City since December of 2017 with shows that feature a mix of jazz standards and original compositions. Since then she has held residencies at several notable jazz venues in Kansas City, including but not limited to, Corvino Supper Club, Chaz on the Plaza, and Green Lady Lounge. She also held the position of Music Director and piano player for the nationally syndicated radio show – 12th Street Jump – taped live in Kansas City until 2020, when the show ended.

Keyboardist, composer, longtime Elvis Costello sideman and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Steve Nieve will make his local solo debut at LowDown, performing Costello classics along with his own compositions and choice covers, including specially arranged renditions of several Bob Dylan songs. This is a rare opportunity to experience Nieve’s piano mastery in an intimate setting.

ABOUT STEVE NIEVE
Widely celebrated as one of the finest, most inventive instrumentalists of the rock era, Nieve has applied his distinct sound to Costello’s work for nearly fifty years, first with original backing band The Attractions and subsequently with The Imposters, earning a Grammy with that combo for the 2020 album “Look Now.” An in-demand collaborator, Nieve also has recorded and performed with iconic artists including Laurie Anderson, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, the Neville Brothers, Smokey Robinson, Squeeze, and Sting. Nieve composed the opera “Welcome to the Voice” with his partner Muriel Teodori, performs regularly with vocalist Kessada, and has released more than a dozen solo albums. Currently, Nieve is on the “Radio Soul” tour with Elvis Costello and the Imposters, which he will wrap up and travel directly to Tulsa for this very special solo concert.

Jennifer Knapp, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, author, speaker, and advocate, has made a significant impact on the music industry over two decades. Her first three albums, including the Gold-certified "Kansas," collectively sold over one million copies, earning her four Dove Awards and two Grammy nominations. Known for her poignant exploration of the human experience and spirituality, Knapp is also a trailblazer in advocacy, notably discussing LGBTQ+ identity. She founded the non-profit Inside Out Faith in 2012, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights within faith communities. Recently completing a master’s degree in theological studies, Knapp remains dedicated to advancing social justice through music and discourse. Blue Whale Comedy Night feat. Nico Carney
Nico Carney is a Brooklyn-based stand-up, writer, and actor. His standup covers his experiences as a trans man growing up in Savannah, Georgia, and whatever else he finds silly and interesting. In 2024, Nico made his late-night debut on LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS and was named a 2024 Comic You Should And Will Know by Vulture. He was selected as a JFL New Face in 2023 and was part of the inaugural Netflix "Introducing..." Showcase at the 2022 Netflix Is a Joke festival. He and his comedy partner Conor Janda also co-host the podcast and live show, BOYS CLUB. Nico can be seen starring in the indie film SHE'S THE HE, which premiered at SXSW this year.

Steeped in the 20th and 21st century traditions of black American improvisational music (John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Miguel Zenon), Mike Cameron Collective will present a thrilling evening of recently penned compositions with his new sextet on Saturday, July 12. The group features over 100 years of combined musical experience and study. The collective includes musicians like vibraphone virtuoso Nick Mancini and is excited to be back on the stage at Low Down on July 12!

Magic City Books Presents: A Magical Night with Penn Jillette
Magic City Books is thrilled to welcome back Penn Jillette for a special event to celebrate his latest book, Felony Juggler, on Tuesday, July 8 at 7:00 pm.
Penn will be in conversation with Magic City Books co-founder Jeff Martin, and you can expect a night of laughs, gags, and a couple of fun surprises.
This ticketed event will take place at LowDown in Tulsa, 108 N Detroit Ave. All tickets include one (1) copy of Felony Juggler ($26.95 value) and one (1) general admission seat at the event on July 8.
All books will be available for pickup at the event.
All tickets include a copy of the book. There is a limit of four tickets per transaction.
If you have a ticket and are unable to attend the event, you will be able to pick up your book at Magic City Books during normal business hours. The last day for ticket holders to pick up Felony Juggler by Penn Jillette is Friday, August 8, 2025. Magic City Books will make an effort to have signed books available for pick up but can not guarantee a signed copy.
